York stone paving

What goes into laying York stone paving properly?

Most of the work is underneath. We dig out with our own machinery, lay and compact a proper sub-base, set the falls so water runs away from the house, then bed and point the stone. Paving laid that way stays level for years instead of rocking or sinking. Most of the work is underneath.

Paving we lay
  • York stone terraces and patios
  • Garden paths
  • Stone steps
  • Paving around pools and garden rooms
  • Paving as part of extensions and landscaping
  • Paving for period and listed homes
Why a building firm with its own plant helps

What you get when the people laying your paving also do the groundworks:

  • Over 40 years building in Kent, as a local family business
  • One team from the first drawing to the final finish, so there is one person to talk to
  • Appointed contractor for English Heritage and Natural England
  • Our own plant and machinery, so groundworks start without waiting on a hire firm
  • A clear quote, with the warranty for your job explained in it
Matching paving on older homes

On a period home the paving should look like it belongs with the house. We can match the stone to what is already there, and as an appointed contractor for English Heritage and Natural England we are used to working around old buildings with care.

Questions

What people ask

Based in Faversham, working across Kent.

How much does York stone paving cost?

It depends on the size of the job, the materials and what's already there, and material prices move too often for a fixed list to stay honest. Tell us what you're planning and we'll come back with a quote for your job.

Do you do the groundworks as well?

Yes. We dig out and lay the base with our own plant and people, so the whole job is done by one team.

Can you lay paving as part of a bigger project?

Yes. Terraces and paths are often part of our extensions, garden rooms and landscaping, and we also lay paving on its own.

Will the paving drain properly?

Yes. We set the falls so water runs away from the house and the paving, and deal with drainage as part of the job.

What warranty do I get?

It depends on the job and the materials, so there isn't one blanket figure. Your quote sets out exactly what's covered for your project before you agree to anything.

Which parts of Kent do you cover?

We are based at Abbots Hill near Faversham and work across Kent. If you are not sure we cover you, ask and we will tell you straight.
